As per the Athens University Faculty of Pharmacy report dd. January 2021:
The Olibites olive samples studied are a source of valuable bioactive ingredients. Our analysis showed that they are rich in Hydroxytyrosol, Tyrosol, Terpenic Acids & Flavonoids.
Hydroxytyrosol and Tyrosol are the main biologically active ingredients of olives and their valuable biological actions; antioxidant, antimetastatic, antimicrobial, antiviral, anti-aging, with neuroprotective action, inhibiting platelet aggregation. Hydroxytyrosol is the ingredient in olive oil for which the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has approved a health claim (Regulation 432 / 2012), noting that a daily intake of 5 mg of Hydroxytyrosol and its derivatives protects blood lipids from oxidative stress. The recommended daily dose by EFSA is achieved by the consumption of less than 10 Olibites olives every day.
In addition to the increased levels of phenolic constituents, the Olibites olives were rich in terpenic acids and specifically in muslin and oleanolic acid, which according to bibliography have been shown to have strong antioxidant, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antidiabetic and anticancer properties.
"The beneficial nutritional" profile of Olibites olives is completed by the presence of high concentrations of flavonoids, substances of intense pharmacological interest and strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory action.
